Care tips
Washing instructions
For the optimal treatment and care of your Lena Hoschek favorite!
For our garments marked as washable, we recommend using your washing machine at home. Always select the delicate or hand wash program as recommended on the care label. It makes sense to use a laundry net to protect the fabric in the washing drum. Please do not use fabric softener or washing powder, only a liquid detergent. For intense colors or multicolored prints, please add a “color catcher cloth” to each wash. Always turn the garment inside out and wash with similar colors. This also applies if it requires hand washing. Then only use a little liquid detergent and wait until it has completely dissolved.
Rinse the garment first with warm water and then with cold water. Never leave it in the water, as this could discolor light areas of the fabric. Never rub or wring out the garment, but roll it up in a clean towel. Then dry lying flat or hanging as indicated on the care label, then iron with a slightly damp cloth and steam dry.
After washing, it is better not to use the tumble dryer.
Please also note that washing may alter or damage the drape of your garment. If you are unsure, please return your Lena-Hoschek garment – especially those with appliqués – to us.
The pro tips:
In general:
- Please always follow the sewn-in care label when caring for your Lena Hoschek garment.
- Store dirty laundry in an airy and dry place, but not for too long.
- Always use little detergent and plenty of water
- Use liquid detergent instead of washing powder.
- Wash and iron inside out.
- Never leave the laundry in the water (sink or washing machine), but always take it out immediately and hang it up.
- Never dry clothes directly in the sun.
- Please remove all detachable details such as belts etc. from the garment before washing.
- Zips and button fastenings should be closed before washing.
- A laundry net is recommended for delicate items. This should be adapted to the size of the garment!
- For intense colors or prints, please add a “color catcher cloth” to each wash.
- Printed garments with folds should only be dried hanging.
Merino wool:
Unlike cotton or viscose, merino wool does not absorb odors and therefore stays fresh even without frequent washing. Simply allow your garment to air out thoroughly after each wear and give the fibers 1-2 days to rest before wearing it again. If it does need to be washed, use a liquid wool detergent and the cold wool wash program in the washing machine. Do not use fabric softener, as this has a negative effect on the moisture and heat-regulating properties of the wool fibers. It is best to dry the garment flat on a towel. Fold your woolen garments and store them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Hanging the garments can affect the original length and shape as the fibers are stretched. To avoid unsightly pilling, make sure that your garment does not rub against structured surfaces such as pocket straps.
Viscose:
Viscose is a chemical fiber made from cellulose, which is mainly obtained from wood or bamboo. It contracts slightly when wet and becomes “hard”, this is called “wet stiffness”. As soon as you iron your viscose garment, it will regain its original shape and feel. We recommend that you pull the garment slightly into shape while it is still wet and then dry it lying flat or hanging. The exact recommendation can be found on the care label.
Silk:
We normally recommend professional dry cleaning for our silk items. In general, only use a liquid mild detergent suitable for silk for hand washing when caring for delicate silk items. Other detergents can make the silk dull and brittle. Please do not stretch the silk when wet, but only pull the garment slightly into shape. Silk should never be wrung out because the fibers could break. It is best to wrap the garment in a clean towel and then dry it lying down or on a hanger.
Cotton:
For a cotton garment, a wash cycle with a 30-40 degree delicate wash program is recommended. It is best to use a laundry net for delicate items. This should be adapted to the size of the garment. Wash and iron inside out and only wash with similar colors.
